Cat Ear Headphones Review

Today we will be talking about the Cat Ear Headphones and how it stands among all other possibilities in the market. The Cat Ear headphones was a huge success on IndieGoGo back in 2015 and still sells a lot these days, so let’s take a look at what makes it so special and if it is worth the price.

Well, just to get it out of the way, this is clearly not a model that focuses on high fidelity sound (really!?), this model is focused on the gaming community, so don’t expect wonders on the sound category. With that out of the way,  let me say that it’s not that bad! Like most low priced headphones, this one focuses on the bass and to be fair, it does a nice job. Everything else is only average, mids, highs and a compressed soundstage is what is left in this equation. Not a bad sounding headphone, but not a great one either.

Design and Durability

The cat ear headphones are really heavy to my surprise, made of high-quality plastic. The only “new” feature of the designs are the cat ears (Almost didn’t notice it), that are also speakers that you can turn off and on as you please. Speaking of the speakers, it is not a bad quality speaker either, it has good volume and almost zero distortion, filling a small-medium room easily. It also has an independently controlled led lights, that are for aesthetics only.

Comfort and Fit

The cushioned earpads are comfortable and do a great job of isolating external noise, however, after a couple of hours you will feel the weight of the headphones and will have to take a break.

Accessories and Extras

The cat ear headphones come in 4 colors: blue, green, purple and red. Also in the package you will receive a detachable gaming mic, a 4″ detachable (3.5mm) headphone cable that is a very nice addition, a charging cable, and as a bonus a carrying case.

The battery time is according to the manufacturer 5h, which is a good number considering the leds and speakers at full potency.

Pros and Cons

  • Nice bass
  • Heavy and durable
  • Detachable mic
  • Cat Ears!?

  • Not very good highs
  • Compressed soundstage

As I’ve said before, the cat ear headphones are not for those looking for superb music reproduction, but if you are a gamer, and casual listener looking to have fun with a good looking headphone, go for it without fears because it is a great quality product.
