Jaybird X2 Review

Fitness is a hot topic these days, and in order to stay healthy, you need to practice exercises periodically, but the problem is that it can get boring without music! You want to stay strong and motivated to face the gym every day, and to do so (and do not disturb others) you need headphones. I’ll be making a review about an in-ear that was designed to deliver great sound and comfort while you are working out, the Jaybird X2 Sport. Let’s see if this is the right choice for you.

As I said in previous articles, I never expect too much sound quality on wireless headphones, but the Jaybird X2 doesn’t disappoint and deliver a good quality that even challenges some wired models in this price range. The bass is decent, it is not an overly bassy model and that is important to me. The mids are detailed and clear with some emphasis on vocals and the soundstage for an in-ear is great, with good space around instruments. Overall, the sound is clear and well defined, and you will be surprised by the quality, considering it is a wireless model.

Due to the design, the Jaybird can be worn two ways: Over the ear, similar to the Shure SE215, and Straight down style, the standard way we all are accustomed to. It is a matter of choice, but I prefer wearing these over the ear because for me the fit is better this way and more comfortable. The ear fins provide a secure fit when you are running and with the right size, they will never fall from your ear. The flat cable is very durable and this design is also sweat proof with a lifetime warranty for damage caused by sweat.

Comfort and Fit

As I said, the design offers a great fit and the ear fins help a lot when you are on the move. You will also receive in the package, 3 sizes of comply memory foam ear tips (that for me are the best), 3 sizes of  standard silicone ear tips and 3 more sizes of ear fins. The silicone ear tips provide great comfort, but if you want better isolation you should go for the comply foam, but this is personal preference.

Style, Accessories, and Extras

You can choose from 6 colors: Midnight, Storm, Ice, Fire, Alpha and Charge (You can check the colors here). They also have a Microphone and inline remote included, a carrying case that isn’t very easy to open/close, clips for cord management and of course, the charging cable.

Battery time of music playback is about 7-8h, which is slightly above average.

Pros and Cons

  • Great Balanced Sound
  • Decent soundstage
  • Great for workouts
  • Comfortable
  • Microphone and inline remote

  • The case could be better

My Rating: 9.7 out of 10

Warranty: 1 year (lifetime against sweat)
