LG TONE Studio HBS-W120 Review

Today I will bring you guys a review about a new model on the market that is already drawing some attention, the LG TONE Studio HBS-W120, the newest addition to the TONE Studio series. This is a relatively more expensive item but it might be worth it for some of you guys. Let’s take a look and decide if this model is the right one for you.

Sound

The HBS-W120 is a high-priced model, and for me, these must deliver an above average quality all the time, and fortunately for us, this is the case here, with the amazing surround sound and the real 3D technology that places 4 different speakers to provide a 3D in dimensional sound experience.

The HBS-W120 is a model that has it all, strong bass, precise mids and crisp highs, pleasing almost everyone that does not know what he/she likes about the sound, making it a perfect first model to peek into the audiophile world. I have to add that despite it being an earbud, the HBS-W120 really shines on the soundstage and the immersion in the music is simply fantastic.

Also, make sure to get the right fit, this will improve your experience immensely.

Design and Durability

Weak spots are an important part to look at when shopping for headphones, always look for soft spots and weak plastic parts to avoid any problems later on. And with the HBS-W120 being made of plastic, it does cause some concerns for some users because it is not a cheap model. However, if we have a good quality plastic, it will be as durable as the metal ones.

The design follows the other LG TONE models with a fancy neckband that is home for a lot of battery and speakers. The battery part is great as the playtime will be greatly improved but the downside is that this model isn’t recommended for sports at all.

Comfort and Fit

When we are talking about headphones, the comfort and fit will depend entirely on the ear pads and the material used on them, but when it comes to earbuds, it will depend mostly on the number of ear tips offered, because every ear is different. However, the focus here was on the speakers and what they can do, bringing a fresh model into the market. And speaking of which, the neckband does feel very comfortable to use in everyday tasks, but not on sports.

Accessories and extras

Well, I thought about leaving this section behind, because the HBS-W120 does not offer any extras or accessories, apart from the usual mic/remote. So I will provide an extra instead, a video with an in-depth look into the model.

Ah, almost forgot, the battery time is up to 35h (!) of music playback in earphone mode and 6h on speaker mode.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Beautiful design
  • Innovative surround sound
  • 3D technology
  • DTS
  • Great bass
  • Great soundstage

Cons:

  • Pricey
  • No accessories

Conclusion

The HBS-W120 is a pricey model, and may not be the best option for people with a tight budget, but if this is not a problem for you, and you are looking for a new great experience, you should definitely consider buying this model.
