The Mee audio is known to produce high-quality in-ear monitors, especially for sports. Today I’ll be reviewing the MEE M6 PRO, that is essentially an upgraded version of the Sport-Fi M6. Let’s see if it is worth the price, (around $50) and if it is really made for the professional musician.
Keep in mind that the M6 PRO is one of those IEM’s that require some burn-in time to deliver at full capacity, so give it some days and you will be surprised how the sound will “evolve”.
Also, make sure to choose the right ear tip size for your ear, because without the proper isolation the sound will never be the same.
The M6 PRO sound really surprised me when it finally settled down. If you are a fan of bass heavy songs, the M6 PRO is a good choice for you with a wide and deep punch that will certainly please the bass heads. The mid-range features a clear sound with nice details, but sometimes you may find the vocals are a little distant, but I think it is not a flaw, only a different signature.
The highs have a good extension and sometimes might become harsh, nothing too bad, but noticeable. However, it becomes better with time. The soundstage is ok, nothing out of the ordinary here, good space and width.
Overall, the sound is great for those who enjoy bass heavy songs and well-defined mids, however, for those that value vocals more, I would consider looking at another model, like the SoundMAGIC E80.
Again with an around the ear design, the M6 PRO features a solid construction, showing that MEE really thinks about the durability of their products, and you can say that a lot of details were put in place to minimize cable noise as well. Speaking of cables, this one has quality: removable and stainless steel memory wires, this is one of the best cables I’ve seen on a $50 IEM. And on top of that, you will receive in the package a replacement cable, so if anything happens with an already top quality cable, you have another one ready to take the duty. This is a thing every company should do, but for now, congrats to MEE.
Comfort and Fit
For those not accustomed to the around the ear design, it might take a while to get used to it, but with 7 pairs of different ear tips including a comply foam, I am sure that you will find the perfect fit for you. Once you get used to the fit, it will feel natural and comfortable to use for hours with no problems.
If you have troubles with the fit, make sure to watch the video below:
Style, Accessories, and Extras
The M6 Pro comes in the clear or smoke color, that for me is good enough as I like to see “what’s inside”. Another pleasant surprise is the microphone and remote controls not usually seen in models of this price. You will also receive a nice carrying case with ample space that you can store even your smartphone if you want. As I said before, you will receive 6 pairs of silicone ear tips, 1 pair of comply foam and a spare cable.
MEE also offers 1-year warranty on the M6 pro and an interesting lifetime replacement policy:
“Things don’t always go according to plan the real world, which is why we’ve created a replacement program for our M6 PRO In-Ear Monitors. In addition to our standard 1-year warranty, we’ll replace your monitors for half price if you lose use of them for any reason that is not covered by our warranty or outside the 1-year warranty period. Whether they get crushed, shredded, fried, or left behind at a venue, simply tell us what happened and we’ll give you a new pair at half price, no questions asked.”
Pros and Cons
- Great bass
- Durable build
- Spare cable
- Comply foam ear tips
- Require some time to burn-in
- Mid-range could be better
My Rating: 9.0 out of 10
The MEE audio M6 PRO is an IEM for those that want something to last, with a strong build and great cable strength, you will enjoy these for a long long time. Besides, if anything happens to your cable, you have a spare one, and a nice replacement policy by MEE. Those low on cash that enjoys a deep bass, go for it without fear!
