Sony XB950B1 Extra Bass Review (2017 Model)

Today I will bring you a review of a model that you may or may not have heard about since it is fairly new on the market the Sony XB950B1 2017 model, let’s make a deep analysis on this mid-priced headphone and see if it’s worth your money.

Sound

If you have a 20$ headphone from china you will instantly notice the big difference. The quality of the bass will feel awesome to you, the “extras bass” on the title always makes me worried thinking that it might be too much, but it looks like sony has learned some lessons, and this time the bass is strong where it needs to be and respects the boundaries of the mids and highs, providing a nice harmony experience.

Another high point is the very well reproduced vocals and the wide soundstage, improving significantly the immersion experience.

Design and Durability

If you look closer, you can see that the ear pads are made entirely of plastic, but sometimes, there’s not much of a difference between plastic and aluminum when it comes to durability, If we have a good quality plastic, it will be as durable as the metal ones. We have a few connectivity options here. apart from the standard bluetooth connection, you can also connect your Sony XB950B1 with NFC.

As this model is wireless we won’t have problems with cables, and luckily for us, this headphone received a good attention to details and if you are careful, you should not have any problems at all.

Comfort and Fit

Fit and comfort on an earbud relies upon a good design, but mostly on the number of ear tips offered, since each ear is different, but when it comes to headphones, it is very different, and the comfort is entirely dependent on the ear pads material and the headband design.

Fortunately for us, the Sony XB950B1 cushioned ear pads offers great comfort for hours without any kind of fatigue.

Accessories and Extras

The Sony XB950B1 comes with an “okay” pouch included and that is all the accessories we receive, apart from the mic/controls. Well, better than nothing. You can choose from 3 color options: Black, Blue and Red. (click on the green button at the end of the article to see the colors).

The battery time is above average for the model with 18 hours of music playback.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Great bass
  • Good looking design
  • Wide soundstage
  • Good fit

Cons:

  • Lacks highs quality

Conclusion

The Sony XB950B1 is not a high-end model, however, for the average customer it will certainly do the job and deliver an amazing experience if this is what you are looking for. If you like a heavy bass on your songs you will be amazed by this model.

The Sony XB950B1 has everything we can hope for in a mid-priced model, nice visual good bass, mids and wide soundstage, definitely, a good buy if you can afford it.
