Yamaha EPH-100SL Review

Today we will be talking about the Yamaha EPH-100SL. Yes, Yamaha, the famous motorcycle and piano brand also make headphones. Let’s see if Yamaha sneaked in a worthy engine into the EPH-100.

I personally enjoy the bass here, I think it is right in the middle, neither overly bassy nor zero bass, but a strong bass, you can definitely feel it is there. The mids and highs are smooth enough to easily compare with more expensive models. Overall, you can expect a great improvement from those $50 headphones you find out there.

The design on this model is great, with the aluminium shaped body, it definitely shows that Yamaha put some work here, the satisfactory workmanship provides a sense of “premium” that is well received. It also has an elastomer cable which isn’t very thick, but they are strong enough. Another nice addition was the cable holder that you can attach the cables to the base of the plug when you are carrying them in your case or pocket, which prevents tangling.

Comfort and Fit

The EPH-100 has double flange ear tips that isolate external sound really well, and unless you have really small ears, you won’t have any discomfort with them for hours. Usually, other brands include 3 sets of ear tips, however, this one comes in 5 different sizes, therefore, we can’t complain about the fit!

Unfortunately, the EPH-100 has no other color besides silver, but I understand this choice of no customization to make it feel more professional, however, I wouldn’t mind a blue or black option.

Another thing I should say is that on the package you will receive a 1/4″ adapter, a 2m extension cable, and a soft case.
